John Loehrke's biography

John Loehrke, an in-demand bass player in many areas of New York City's music scene, had studied with bass legends Richard Davis and Dave Holland. He recieved his B.M.E. degree from the University of Michigan. Some of the names he had recorded with included Karen Akers, K.T. Sullivan, Mark Holen and Doug Hammond. He had also worked with Chet Baker, Angela Bofil, Lee Konitz, Margaret Whiting, Chita Rivera, Julie Wilso, Nancy Dussalt, and many others. He had recieved three MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabaret) awards for best jazz instrumental group (Wes McAfee Duo). A quote from New York Daily News critic Howard Kissel sums up his goal in music as: "John Loehrke makes his bass sound both soulful and playful."
